DETAILS: The Oxnard Police Department will be conducting its annual Thanksgiving Turkey Give-away today, Tuesday, November 26, 2012 from 10:00 A.M. to 12:00 P.M at Cesar Chavez Elementary, cafeteria.
The Oxnard Police Department District Three Team and Community Affairs Manager received donations of 245 turkeys from local businesses and community members for the neediest of families in our City. With the assistance of Ramona Elementary School, Cesar Chavez Elementary School, Rose Avenue School, R.J. Frank Intermediate, Green Valley School, La Escuelita and others, the Oxnard Police Department was once again able to provide families with certificates that they will redeem at this morning for one 12 – 20 lb. turkey.
“We could not be more proud of the men and women of the Oxnard Police Department, who are already working around the clock, and were still able to muster the energy to reach out to local businesses and community partners to make this event this success, especially our Community Affairs Manager and District 3 Team”, said Jeri Williams, Chief of Police.
The Oxnard Police Department District Three Team would like to thank the participating schools, as well as, the following businesses that donated funds and turkeys: Costco of Oxnard, Sam’s Club of Oxnard, Whole Foods of Oxnard, El Super Market, Rotary Club of Oxnard, Oxnard Councilman Bryan McDonald, Mr. Harry Cortez, Mr. Ivan Chacon of Truth Realty, Mr. Jose Luis Morales of Century 21, Santos Trucking—and the Oxnard Peace Officers Association, and Oxnard Firefighter Association. Without all their help and continued support, this event would not have been possible.
We are indebted to these great and responsible businesses and community members, “said Miguel Lopez, Oxnard Police Community Manager. “We can only measure the success of this event, in these times, to the men and women who felt compelled to give in the spirit of Thanksgiving. And, as a community, and on behalf of the 245 families who will be receiving a Turkey today, we thank you.”
