At 2016 hours, officers responded to St. John’s Regional Medical Center to investigate a stabbing.
Genaro Cortez, a 27-year old Oxnard resident, advised that at 1930 hours he was walking in the alley of the 900 Block of Cooper Road. A male, early 20’s, wearing a white shirt and black pants, walked by him. Suddenly, this subject grabbed the victim from behind. A struggle ensued and the victim was stabbed. It is unknown if the suspect also intended to rob the victim.
The victim sustained multiple stab wounds to his neck and back. Cortez’ wounds are not life-threatening.
