DETAILS:On February 16, 2016 at approximately 9:40 a.m., an officer involved shooting incident occurred in the 3100 block of Saviers Road. The suspect in that case was identified as 55 year old Oxnard resident Juan Soto. Soto was transported to the Ventura County Medical Center with a non-life threatening injury.
The police officers involved in the shooting have been identified as Senior Officer Jose Silva and Officer Brandon Rodriguez. Both officers are assigned to the patrol division. Senior Officer Silva is a 15 year veteran, and Officer Brandon Rodriguez is an 8 year veteran. Senior Officer Silva and Officer Rodriguez make up the District Four Community Policing Team. Their assignment is to work closely with members of the community to enhance the quality of life, crime prevention, and build community partnerships.
Senior Officer Silva and Officer Rodriguez are currently on paid administrative leave, which is standard procedure following an officer involved shooting incident.
The Ventura County District Attorney’s Office filed charges against Soto for his actions that led to the officer involved shooting incident. Soto remains in custody at the Ventura County Sheriff’s Main Jail.
