SUBJECT: Firearms Arrest

On November 12, 2020, at approximately 1:30PM officers from the Oxnard Police Department’s Homeless Liaison Unit responded to the 2700 block of S. Ventura Road regarding possible narcotic activity in the parking lot of the businesses. Upon arrival, officers observed several subjects sitting outside a vehicle parked on the property. The officers contacted the subjects and located open containers of alcohol and drug paraphernalia. The subjects were detained by the officers for an investigation of narcotics possession and use.
As officers contacted Laburu, a struggle ensued. Officers located a loaded .22 caliber revolver in Laburu’s pocket. Officers were able to retrieve the handgun and take Laburu into custody without further incident. Laburu was arrested for being under the influence, resisting officers and several firearms violations.
