DETAILS:
On 5-19-10 around 12:20 PM, Officers responded to a call of a take over robbery that had just occurred at 120 West Channel Islands Blvd the 5 De Mayo Jewelry store. Once officers arrived they were told that two suspect had entered the store while one suspect waited in the vehicle.
The pair that entered the store requested an item that caused the employee go to the back room to retrieve it. One suspect followed the employee to the back room where he brandished a handgun and tied the two employees up. The pair then took several items of jewelry, cash, and two weapons from inside the business. The employee notified a neighboring business that the robbery had occurred. There were no injuries to either employee. The suspects fled in a blue van.
As officers searched the area Sgt Mike Van Atta located the vehicle abandoned near the carwash at Bryce Cyn and Saviers Rd. The vehicle had evidence inside and outside on the ground around the parking lot that investigators recovered. The vehicle was a stolen out of Hawthorne on an unknown date.
