SUBJECT: Residential Burglary Leads to Arrest and Recovery of Stolen Vehicle

VEHICLE: 2021 Chevrolet Silverado 3500 truck (recovered stolen vehicle)

On April 13th, at approximately 4:30 P.M., officers from the Oxnard Police Department responded to a home in the 1200 block of Beverly Drive to investigate a residential burglary that occurred earlier in the afternoon. Officers quickly learned that the home’s video surveillance system captured footage of the female suspect entering the home and exiting with several valuable stolen items. The suspect was also seen entering the victim’s white, 2021 Chevrolet Silverado 3500 pick-up truck and driving away with it.
During the investigation, officers learned that the stolen truck was equipped with OnStar. Within one hour, officers located the stolen truck in the parking lot of Oxnard Community Park West occupied by the female suspect, Violet Legend, who was seated in the driver’s seat wearing clothing taken during the burglary. Legend was taken into custody and found to be the same suspect observed on the home’s surveillance video committing the burglary. Legend was arrested for burglary, motor vehicle theft and narcotics related offenses. The items stolen during the burglary were located in the truck. Legend was also found to have an outstanding arrest warrant from a previous burglary investigation.
