The Oxnard Police Department has released the name of the 14-year old victim that was killed by gunfire. Leonardo Gonzalez Jimenez was shot and killed Monday evening as he stood by a bus stop waiting for a ride home from a relative.
Oxnard Police responded to a shooting victim in the 1300 block of South C Street on Monday, September 12, 2022, at approximately 7:45 pm. Officers and EMS personnel located Jimenez on the ground suffering from gunshot wounds and transported him to the Ventura County Medical Center. Unfortunately, despite lifesaving efforts, Jimenez died at the hospital.
Major Crimes detectives responded to the scene and are investigating the case. Preliminary information indicates the shooting was gang-related.
Investigators are encouraging anyone who has any information, or may have heard or seen anything to contact Detective Kaya Boysan (805) 385-7645. Additionally, the City of Oxnard offers a reward of $25,000 for information leading to the arrest and conviction of any individuals responsible for committing homicides within the City.
