DETAILS: On 4/16/17 at 9:29 pm, Oxnard Police Officers were in the Vons parking lot at 2101 N. Rose Avenue checking for possible auto burglary suspects. This was in response to recent auto burglaries in the area. Officers contacted Moises Cervantes in a Chevy Blazer. A records check showed Cervantes was on probation for burglary. A probation search of his vehicle was conducted with the assistance of a K9 unit. The K9 alerted on a compartment inside the vehicle and officers located a methamphetamine pipe, forty .25 caliber rounds, and a .25 caliber semi-automatic handgun. The handgun was loaded and its serial numbers had been removed. Cervantes was booked for possession of a loaded firearm in a vehicle, possession of a firearm with altered serial numbers and possession of narcotics paraphernalia.
