On April 2, 2018 Officers from the Oxnard Police Department Special Enforcement Unit (Gang Unit) were conducting directed gang enforcement throughout the city due to recent rise in gang related violence.
At approximately 2030 hours, SEU officers observed a known probationer and Oxnard gang member, Jesse Chairez, in the 600 block of Howell Rd. As Officers approached, Chairez discarded a loaded revolver handgun. Chairez was arrested without incident and charged with firearm related violations.
Chairez was transported to Ventura County Jail.
The Oxnard Police Department Special Enforcement Unit is committed to reducing gang crimes and gun violence in the City of Oxnard through the strict enforcement of laws specifically targeting known, active gang members residing in the city. Citizens are reminded to contact the Police Department when they observe suspicious activity or are witnesses to a crime.
