En junio 14, 2018, en aproximadamente 8:45 a.m., investigators from the Oxnard Police Department’s Auto Theft Task Force (OATTF) observed a stolen Honda Civic stopped in the 2100 bloque del Norte Ventura carretera. Investigators attempted to contact the driver and passenger of the vehicle, at which time both subjects fled the vehicle on foot. El controlador, identified as Romeo Yere, was quickly apprehended and taken into custody.
El pasajero, Eduardo Magallon, was recognized by investigators as having several outstanding warrants for his arrest. Magallon fled into the adjoining neighborhoods of Windsor North and River Ridge. After a prolonged foot pursuit, Magallon was apprehended in the 2000 bloque de la calle de Mariposa.
Romeo Yere was arrested for possession of a stolen vehicle and resisting arrest. Eduardo Magallon was arrested for possession of a stolen vehicle, resisting arrest and for his numerous outstanding warrants. Magallon has an extensive criminal record that includes numerous arrests for auto theft. Romeo Yere and Eduardo Magallon were booked into the Ventura County Main Jail.
The Oxnard Police Department’s Auto Theft Task Force was created to address stolen vehicle issues within the City of Oxnard. The Oxnard Police Department advises citizens to park their vehicles in well-lit areas, lock their vehicles and use anti-theft devices to secure their vehicles.
