Field Services is the largest of the Oxnard Police Department’s three bureaus – about sixty-five percent of the Department’s workforce is assigned to it. The Field Services Bureau is overseen by an assistant police chief. en adición, five police commanders and 22 sergeants manage and supervise the 227 sworn and civilian positions in the bureau. The Field Services Bureau consists of four divisions:
La División de patrulla is the largest of the five. Three commanders and fifteen sergeants provide operational supervision of uniformed sworn and civilian personnel. Additional sergeants supervise the School Resource Officers (1) and Neighborhood Policing Team (2).
La División de Apoyo a la Patrulla is comprised of the Traffic Unit and Booking Unit, and Animal Safety Unit. One commander and two sergeants oversee the sworn and civilian personnel.
La División de Operaciones Especiales is comprised of the Special Enforcement Unit/SWAT and the K-9 Unit. Other collateral functions within the division include the Firearms Unit and Crisis Negotiations Team. One commander and two sergeants supervise the division’s personnel.
La Emergency Communications Division provides police dispatch services for the City of Oxnard. It is also a public safety answering point for fire calls. A civilian manager oversees the division’s operations and its 24 personal.
