On May 22nd, at approximately 5:33 p.m., officers from the Oxnard Special Enforcement Unit (Gang Unit) conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle at F St. and Fourth St. The traffic stop was pursuant to a search warrant authored by detectives from the Oxnard Violent Crimes Unit. The subject of the search warrant, identified as Manuel Moreno, was detained and found to be in possession of an illegal knife and was arrested for the violation.
Special Enforcement Unit officers and Violent Crimes Unit detectives followed up with a search warrant in the 100 block of North H St. During the service of the warrant officers located approximately 5 pounds of methamphetamine and 1.5 pounds of fentanyl, which is consistent with quantities possessed for sales. Officers also located numerous gun parts, ammunition, a large quantity of US Currency, and an 80%, semi-automatic, short-barreled, AR style, .223 caliber rifle. 80% rifles are sold commercially as incomplete, without serial numbers, and must be further manufactured to make them into functioning firearms. Moreno had been previously arrested by Special Enforcement Unit officers for narcotics and firearms violations five days ago.
