On May 23, 2025, at about 1811 hours, Patrol Officers responded to the 900 block of East Channel Islands Boulevard regarding a domestic violence incident involving a firearm.
When the officers arrived, they learned that the suspect, Alejandro Salas Jr., was in an argument with his girlfriend. During the argument, Salas battered her and threatened to kill her. The victim was forced to leave the residence to get treatment and was forced to FaceTime Salas so he knew she was not talking to police. Salas remained in the residence with their three-month-old child.
The Oxnard Police Department SWAT team responded to the scene. Investigators were able to coax Salas out of the residence without his child, and he was taken into custody without incident while in possession of a firearm. Salas was booked into the Ventura County Jail on multiple charges, including kidnapping, domestic battery causing injury, assault with a deadly weapon, making criminal threats, child endangerment, and being a felon in possession of a firearm and ammunition.
