SUBJECT: Documented Gang Member / Parolee Found to be in Possession of a Stolen Firearm and Methamphetamine

On April 12th 2024, at approximately 4:48 p.m., officers from the Oxnard Special Enforcement Unit (Gang Unit) were patrolling near Rose Avenue and Channel Islands Boulevard when they conducted an enforcement stop on a vehicle for a vehicle code violation. Officers contacted the driver, Joseph Tamayo, who was found to be on parole.
In accordance with the terms of his parole, officers conducted a parole search of Tamayo’s residence where they located one half pound of crystal methamphetamine and a loaded, stolen handgun. Officers arrested and charged Tamayo with a parole violation. The investigation regarding Tamayo’s possession of the firearm and narcotics is ongoing.
