OXNARD POLICE DEPARTMENT
DETAILS: As part of the Oxnard Police Department’s Operation Safer and Stronger initiative, the Department increased its special patrols in the month of May. This effort included officers conducting 54 probation and parole searches. These searches led to the arrests of 15 individuals for outstanding warrants- 9 of the warrants were for felony charges and 6 were for misdemeanor charges. These additional patrols augmented our normal patrol staffing and were focused on contacting individuals that may be responsible for committing a high number of crimes.
On 5/8/14, officers conducted a parole check on Christian Perez, a 22 year old Oxnard resident, who was on parole for robbery. He was arrested for a felony charge of making criminal threats, on a pending investigation, and for violation of parole.
On 5/8/14, officers contacted Gonsalo Duarte, a 33 year old Oxnard resident, who had an active warrant for his arrest for narcotics violations. He was contacted and found to be in possession of narcotics paraphernalia and ammunition. Duarte was prohibited from possessing ammunition because of his criminal convictions.
On 5/13/14, officers were conducting a probation check on Rene Carrillo, a 43 year old Oxnard resident, who was on probation for identity theft and fraud related crimes. Officers searched Carrillo’s residence and found evidence of counterfeit check making. Carrillo was arrested for eight new counts of possessing fictitious checks and credit cards.
Officers are continuing these focused enforcement efforts into the month of June as we know a small number of offenders are responsible for a disproportionately high number of criminal activity.
The Oxnard Police Department continues to encourage residents to be partners in public safety as part of the Operation Safer and Stronger initiative. Anyone with information regarding criminal activity should contact the Oxnard Police Department at 385-7600, or the Ventura County Crime Stoppers at (805) 222-8477 and http://www.venturacountycrimestoppers.org/contactus.aspx.
