DETAILS:

On 03/01/2014 at 0908 hours officers with the Oxnard Police Department responded to the call of a burglary in progress at Trojan Storage at 1801 Eastman Avenue.  The suspect, Kevin Lynch, was observed breaking into vehicles.

Officers responded to the area and tried to contact Lynch at the business.  Lynch fled from officers in a light blue sedan.  Officers attempted to pursue Lynch, but he drove at such high speeds that officers elected to discontinue the pursuit.  As Lynch was fleeing the area he lost control of his vehicle and collided with the center median at Gonzales and C Streets.  Lynch fled from the disabled vehicle but was taken into custody after a short foot pursuit.  While Lynch was being medically cleared at St. John’s Hospital he fled from officers and medical staff.  Lynch was re-captured after another foot pursuit. Lynch was booked for recklessly evading officers, attempted escape, resisting an officer, and vandalism.

The Oxnard Police Department encourages residents to be partners in public safety as part of the Operation Safer and Stronger initiative.  This is an excellent example of a witness who saw suspicious activity, called police, and provided the appropriate information.

If anyone has more information on this incident, you are encouraged to contact the Oxnard Police Department at 385-7600.  If someone wishes to remain anonymous, they can call the Violent Crimes Hotline at (805) 982-7070 or the Ventura County Crime Stoppers at (800) 222-8477 and www.venturacountycrimestoppers.org/contactus.aspx
