NEWS RELEASE

INCIDENT:  Vehicle Versus Pedestrian Traffic Collision
DATE/TIME:  9/23/13; 1815 hours
LOCATION:  1200 Block of South “K” Street
VICTIM(S):  10 year old male
SUSPECT(S):  HIspanic male adult
   
SUSPECT VEHICLE(S):  Black ’96 GMC Pick-up truck

DETAILS:

On September 23, 2013, at about 1815 hours, officers and EMS personnel responded to a traffic collision involving a vehicle and a pedestrian in the 1200 Block of South “K” Street. Upon arrival, officers learned that a black pick-up truck had collided with a 10 year-old pedestrian in the street. The truck also dragged the pedestrian’s bicycle in the street as the truck continued south.  It was unknown if the pedestrian was riding the bicycle at the time of the collision. 
 
The driver of the pickup fled the scene.  The vehicle was later found abandoned in the 1400 Block of South “J” Street, and was impounded for evidence.  The driver, described as a Hispanic male adult, was not located.
 
The victim was transported to VCMC where he appeared to suffer a leg fracture.  The injury was not life-threatening.
