DETAILS:
Oxnard Police Officers made two separate arrests for possession of firearms and other charges on Friday evening.
The first arrest resulted when officers responded to a call of loud music in the 300 block of Brucker Road at approximately 11:20PM. Officers contacted Barraza, who claimed to be a relative of the homeowner. However, the homeowner later arrived and stated they did not know Barraza. Officers later located an unloaded 9mm firearm on Barraza; he was also in possession of loaded extended handgun magazine. Barraza was arrested for firearms violations, including carrying a concealed firearm and unlawful possession of a high capacity magazine. He was transported to Ventura County Jail.
The second arrested resulted when officers contacted a subject passed out in a vehicle in the 1100 block of S. Ventura Road. Officers observed a firearm in between the driver’s seat and center console of the vehicle. Officers were able to remove the firearm from the vehicle, and detain the driver, Celis, after a minor altercation. Celis was found to be in possession of a loaded .40 caliber firearm, as well as methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia. The vehicle that Celis was in was also a stolen vehicle. Celis was arrested for multiple firearm and drug-related charges, including felon in possession of a firearm, as well as possessing a stolen vehicle. Celis was also arrested back in May of this year under similar circumstances. He was also transported to Ventura County Jail.
