On September 30, 2020 at approximately 8:34 P.M., officers from the Oxnard Police Department were dispatched to a shooting victim in the 1300 block of West Channel Islands Boulevard. When they arrived, officers located a 32-year-old male Oxnard resident down in the parking lot. The male was armed with a handgun and was suffering from a gunshot wound. Initially, the male was not compliant with officers however, officers were able to eventually direct the male to drop his gun and comply with their requests. The male subject was treated immediately by EMS personnel prior to being transported to a local hospital where he remains in critical condition.
Investigators from the Oxnard Police Department Violent Crimes Unit responded to the scene and assumed responsibility for the investigation. Based on the preliminary investigation, it appears that the victim was in contact with other persons at the scene when multiple gunshots were fired and the victim was struck. The investigation is in the preliminary stages and no further information is available at this time.
