SUBJECT: Gang Member Arrested For Possession of a Firearm

On July 30, at approximately 9:20 p.m., Officers from the Oxnard Police Department Special Enforcement Unit (gang unit) conducted a traffic stop on a grey Honda Accord at the intersection of Channel Islands Blvd and DuPont Street. Officers contacted Henry Magana (23yrs) in the vehicle. Magana is a known criminal street gang member within the City of Oxnard, currently on felony probation in the County of Ventura for assault with a firearm and is a prohibited person from possession of firearms and ammunition.
Officers from the Special Enforcement Unit responded to Magana’s residence at the 3200 block of Merced Place to conduct a probation search. During the probation search, officers located a concealed loaded Smith and Wesson .40 caliber semi-automatic handgun with additional ammunition and magazines. The firearm was found to be unregistered. Magana was arrested for various felony firearms related charges.
