SUBJECT: Gang Member Arrested For Possession of a Firearm and Ammunition

On July 29, at approximately 5:30 p.m., Officers from the Oxnard Police Department Special Enforcement Unit (gang unit) conducted a traffic stop on a grey Saturn SUV in the 1800 block of Solar Drive. Officers contacted Jorge Serratos (31yrs) in the vehicle. Serratos is a known criminal street gang member in the City of Oxnard, currently on probation in the County of Ventura and is a prohibited person from possession of firearms and ammunition due to prior felony convictions.
Officers from the Special Enforcement Unit authored a search warrant for Serratos and his residence at the 1500 block of Lombard Street reference an on-going criminal investigation. Serratos was detained for the search warrant at the traffic stop, and Special Enforcement Unit Officers responded to Serratos’ residence to serve the search warrant. During the service of the search warrant, officers located a concealed Polymer 80 Glock style handgun, various calibers of ammunition ranging from handgun to rifle ammunition and a bolt-action Remington 738 rifle. P80 semi-automatic handguns are commercially sold incomplete and without serial numbers; they must be further manufactured to make them functioning firearms and serialized. Serratos was arrested for various felony firearm charges.
