On June 18, at approximately 10:55 p.m., Officers from the Oxnard Police Department Special Enforcement Unit (gang unit) contacted two juveniles (15yrs and 17yrs) at the 200 block of Carmelita Court. When officers attempted to contact them, the two juveniles fled on foot. Officers were able to stop the subjects a short distance away, and found the juveniles to be known criminal street gang members within the City of Oxnard.
The fifteen-year-old was found to have a loaded 9 millimeter Norico semi-automatic handgun in his waistband. The firearm was found to be unregistered, and the fifteen-year-old was charged with numerous firearms related violations. The seventeen-year-old was also arrested for a violation of his probation terms.
