Police Department Property and Evidence Unit
The Property and Evidence Section is governed by state law on all pieces of property. In some cases property must be held the entire length of a criminal or civil trial and may be held for the length of the possible appeal period.
When the case has been concluded by court or other means, the Property and Evidence Section mails out claim cards to the rightful owners of the property. If you receive a postcard, your property is available for pick-up at the police station. The card is mailed to the address listed in police reports. It is the responsibility of persons to contact the Property and Evidence Section with changes of address. Please be sure to call for an appointment to pick-up your property.Firearms
Proof of ownership is required on all weapons and must be registered to the person claiming ownership of the weapon. In order to have your firearm returned you must first go through a background check through the Department of Justice. Contact us with any questions regarding this procedure.Police Auctions
