On November 14, 2016, at approximately 12:20 a.m., officers from the Oxnard Police Department conducted a traffic stop in the 600 block of East Gonzales Road on a white, 2001 Toyota Avalon after observing a traffic violation.
During contact with the driver, Daniel Miramontes, a high-powered, scoped rifle, later found to be fully loaded, was observed on the rear seat of the vehicle. Miramontes was taken into custody and a search of his person led to the discovery of a concealed, loaded handgun and brass knuckles. Officers conducted a search of the vehicle’s interior and located an additional loaded handgun in the center console. Miramontes was placed under arrest and determined to have been previously convicted of felonious crimes. He was also found to be out on bail for weapons possession and sales of narcotics offenses. Miramontes was charged with possession of firearms and being a convicted felon in possession of firearms. He was booked into the Ventura County Jail.
