Professional Standards Division
Professional Standards Division The Professional Standards Division is located within the Administrative Services Bureau and is comprised of one Police Commander, three Police Sergeants, two Administrative Services Assistants, and two part-time employees. Two Sergeants are assigned to the Internal Affairs Unit. One Sergeant, the two Administrative Service Assistants, and the two part-time employees are assigned to the Personnel and Training Unit. School Resource Officer Unit (SRO’s)
The SRO program serves a student population of about 42,000 students in Oxnard’s four public school districts. The Police Department has one SRO assigned to each of Oxnard Union High School District’s (OUHSD) four (4) public high schools. These four (4) SRO’s are allocated full-time to their respective high schools and provide security and safety for the campus throughout the day. With a new 2018-19 school contract agreement with Oxnard School District, three (3) SRO’s now provide service to the OSD and the fourth SRO splits their time between Hueneme School District and selected schools from the Rio School District....
Patrol Services
Uniformed patrol operations are often referred to as being the backbone of any policing organization. This is no different at the Oxnard Police Department. Some 90 police officers regularly patrol the City’s streets across all hours and days of the week. Patrol officers regularly work in marked “black and white” police cars and are assigned to one of nine patrol beats. Patrol officers work on a “3/12.5” plan, which consists of three 12.5 hour workdays, with one added 10-hour shift every 28 days.
