DETAILS:
On 08/16/2010 at approximately 1030 hours, Officers of the Oxnard Police Department received information about a stolen vehicle parked in a parking lot in the 1600 block of S. Oxnard Bl. Investigators from the Ventura County Auto Theft Taskforce (VENCAT) conducted surveillance on the vehicle. After a suspect was observed inside the vehicle attempting to remove the stereo from the dash, uniformed Oxnard Police Officers attempted to contact the suspect. The suspect saw officers approaching and fled on foot. Oxnard Police K-9, Cody, was deployed after the suspect refused to stop at the order of officers. Cody apprehended the suspect in the 1700 block of Gisler Ave.
Suspect, Joseph Villareal (31 years) was arrested for burglary and possession of stolen property.
