DETAILS:
On 08/10/2010 at approximately 1924 hours in the 100 block South Rose Avenue, shots were fired into a vehicle occupied by three individuals. After the shooting the suspects fled in an unknown direction. The victim vehicle was located several blocks away. There were no injuries. The area was searched for the suspects with negative results.
During the course of the investigation Violent Crimes Unit Investigators were able to determine that only one suspect was responsible for the shooting. They identified Vicente Cervantes (12/21/89) as being the person responsible for the shooting. On 8/14/10 at approximately 1651 hours members of the Special Enforcement Unit located Cervantes in the area of First Street and Rose Avenue. They contacted Cervantes and arrested him without incident. Cervantes was booked into the Ventura County Jail for three counts of attempted murder, the gang enhancement, and several other felony charges.
A search warrant was served at Cervantes’ residence and several items of evidentiary value were seized. Because the investigation is still ongoing investigators are unable to give further information as to what was seized at the residence. Investigators are requesting that anyone with information regarding this case to call Detective Jeff McGreevy at (805) 385-3983 or if you wish to remain anonymous you can call the Ventura County Crime Stoppers at (805) 385-8255.
