DETAILS: 

On June 10, 2010, the victim was purchasing items from the 7-11 and was standing at the counter.  The 17-year old suspect attempts to distract her by making small-talk, and then grabs the victim’s purse which was on the counter at her elbow.  He runs outside and jumps into a black Mitsubishi Eclipse driven by Jacob Lara, which was waiting outside with the engine running.  The parties flee.  An officer spots the vehicle as it turns northbound J Street from Wooley, and the vehicle is finally stopped at B Street and 5^th Street.  Officers locate the victim’s cell phone, change purse, and other person items in the car.  The juvenile suspect shows officers the location where the driver and the passenger went through the victim’s purse and chose items, then discarded the purse in a dumpster.  All of the victim’s property was recovered.  The adult was booked into Ventura County Jail for Grand Theft Person and Conspiracy, on $40,000 bail.  At the time of the event he was already out on bail for grand theft auto.  The juvenile was lodged into juvenile hall for the same offenses.  The juvenile is hoping to leave Juvenile Hall before his Friday graduation from a local high school.
