For the Cinco de Mayo holiday, the Oxnard Police Department Traffic Unit deployed four officers to conduct DUI saturation patrol between the hours of 6:00 P.M. and midnight.

These officers stopped 40 vehicles, conducted seven DUI investigations, and arrested three drivers for driving under the influence of alcohol. Two of these drivers had blood alcohol levels that were over double the legal limit of .08. Officers also issued 21 citations to drivers for various vehicle code violations. Five of the drivers stopped did not have a valid drivers license.

The Oxnard Police Department would like to remind you to drive sober, drive safely, and buckle up. We also ask that you call 911 to report drunk drivers.

The Oxnard Police Department will continue conducting DUI saturation patrols on various nights of the week and holidays in an effort to reduce the number of alcohol related crashes and to make our community and roadways safer. These operations are funded through grants from the California Office of Traffic Safety (OTS) though the National Highway Transportation Safety Administration (NHTSA).
